This is where we share news of our free “Come and Strum” events which are open to the public.

We will also share information when we post new songs (with chords) that we will be playing.

Songs for Light Night 2020

We will be strumming and singing for Nottingham Light Night on Friday 7th February at St. Andrew’s with Castle Gate church.

The city council has chosen the theme of Life on Earth for Light Night events this year and we will choose some songs about animals and nature to reflect this.

Songs will include many of the following:

        • The lion sleeps tonight
        • Banana boat song
        • There was an old woman who swallowed a fly
        • Under the sea
        • Tie me kangaroo down
        • Old MacDonald had a farm
        • Island in the Sun
        • Drunken sailor
        • Going to the zoo
        • Here comes the Sun
        • Kookaburra
        • Never smile at a crocodile

Songs for Light Night 2019

I have uploaded some new songs ready for the 2019 Light Night Come and Strum.

With 2019 seeing the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landing on the Moon, it seemed a good opportunity to include songs which mention the moon in their lyrics!

As always, we will try to choose songs on the night to match the players who come along, but likely choices include:

  • Morningtown ride
  • Stand by me
  • Bring me sunshine
  • I can see clearly now
  • Here comes the Sun
  • I have a dream/Super trouper
  • Drunken sailor
  • This little light of mine
  • Count on me
  • You are my sunshine
  • Banana boat song

and I hope to do “Keep a dream in your pocket” as this specifically mentions Neil Armstrong!
