Morningtown Ride was composed by Malvina Reynolds and made famous by The Seekers on their album Hide and Seekers which was produced in 1964, seven years after the song was written. The song, which is a lullaby, became the theme tune for the popular Saturday morning BBC radio programme, Children’s Favourites when it was renamed Junior Choice in 1965. The programme ran until the 1980s.
